Castlehouse has now started works on the new 10,000 sq ft building for the UK’s leading specialist pet care business. Completion earmarked for Spring 2021.
Handforth Dean Retail Park, situated in the heart of Cheshire’s stockbroker belt and located just off the A34 bypass, close to the A555 between Wilmslow, Heald Green and Styal, the 40 acre park includes retailers such as M&S, Tesco Extra and Boots and Next.
Pets at Home takes the lead in the business of pet care. This new flagship store forms part of the retail group’s continued expansion strategy. Pets at Home have over 451 stores currently operating UK wide.
Frank Kofler, Managing Director, Castlehouse Construction commented: “We are delighted to start work on the new Pets at Home store for CPG. Whilst this is our first pet care store new build, we have a strong track record in the retail sector. Delivering stores for the likes of Lidl, Aldi, Iceland, Home Bargains and more. The store will be a huge asset for pet owners visiting the Retail Park. Very much a popular shopping destination for thousands of people across the region.”
Martin Ridgway, Group Managing Director of CPG, “The Handforth Dean retail area is one of the most popular in the region due to the strength of the catchment population and great accessibility. The new flagship Pets at Home store will build on the success of the Next at Home store completed a few years ago. Pleased to be working with Castlehouse Construction and look forward to completion in Spring 2021.”
Wayne Kemp, Pets at Home Store Development Director commented “We’re delighted to be working with CPG and Castlehouse Construction on this project and to be opening a store in such a great location with the added benefit of it being just around the corner from our Support Office. We’re bringing the very best of Pets at Home to this location. We’re confident that pet owners will be impressed with the finished store.”
Warrington Martin is project manager on the new build.
Sam Dibaj, Chair of the CIOB Leeds Hub Committee, presented the Certificate of Excellence and prizes in a virtual awards ceremony to only 4 students including Adam in July 2020.
He told the winners: “It’s our aim to inspire the next generation of construction industry professionals. You’ve all been recognised for the skills that you have, that are pivotal to working within the construction industry: Communication, teamwork, having a positive attitude and maintaining high standards.”
“Not many would be able to achieve what Adam has achieved” said the college and CIOB.
After lockdown, Adam was straight on site working at a hospital. He and Castlehouse became extremely busy as they supported construction work. Including theatre upgrades, creating isolation wards, fitting extra scrub rooms. This was while some areas of the hospital were closed for essential roofing work. Again, through this time, he found a way to balance work, college and life without letting his grades fall.
Commenting on the award and his role at Castlehouse, Adam Stockdill said: “This CIOB award is a high acknowledgement of merit a Site Manager can receive in the construction industry. So it’s a huge achievement to receive. The role of being a Site Manager is often challenging. But there are so many rewarding factors that make the job so worthwhile including this recognition.
“I want to thank Castlehouse for their support with my studies and Charlotte, my partner and family for their continued patience and support whilst I committed myself to my study.”
Phil Dewell, Construction Director at Castlehouse added. “Absolutely delighted Adam has been awarded with this prestigious CIOB Award. 1 of only 4 students. We can mirror Adam’s commitment and positive attitude to maintaining high standards. He is a great asset to Castlehouse and our team. Well done again Adam”
